OpenAI launches ChatGPT search engine to compete with Google
The AI sector is on the move! That’s what we’re seeing from a number of big tech companies, including OpenAI, which has arrived as a new competitor in the AI search field. Following the presentation of Bing Generative Search, OpenAI is now challenging Google on its own turf with the introduction of SearchGPT.
This addition will help position ChatGPT as a reliable search engine and legitimize the information it offers.
This solution, in the style of ChatGPT, uses a prompt to perform a web search, in the same way as ChatGPT. However, like ChatGPT, SearchGPT features an improved interface, similar to that found on Google, with blocks and links laid out correctly, facilitating access to information and off-site navigation. OpenAI also adds its personal touch with animations and icons (a first for a GPT).
Perplexity, between chatbot IA and search engine
The IA search engine is therefore becoming a must-have. Some companies, like Perplexity, were already making it their hobbyhorse. Launch in 2022, by old employees of Meta, Quora or Databricks, the software is to optimize searches on the web, in the finding of knowledge.
This optimization is to compete with Bing, Google and OpenIA. Those sames companies, begins to launch their own IA Search Engine.
To stand out, Perplexity propose in it software, two type of answers : Quick Search, the free version, gives basic and simple answers to the user, and Pro Search, premium version, proposing details and conversational responses to engage users in his search. Perplexity also gives the possibility to choose it’s IA model like GPT-4o and Claude 3.5.
